Vilnius University Approaches Its 450th Anniversary: What Does the Future Hold?

As Vilnius University approaches its 450th anniversary, we invite you to join a discussion about the University’s future. How should it evolve to maintain its leading role, meet expectations in research and education, and contribute to strengthening the state? The discussion will be held in Lithuanian with simultaneous interpretation into English.

As Vilnius University approaches its 450th anniversary, this milestone offers an opportunity not only to reflect on its long history, but also to consider what kind of university it should become in the future. As preparations for the anniversary begin, the University invites its community to reflect on its future direction, the areas in which it should develop, and the expectations in research and education it should meet to contribute to the strengthening of the state.

Is the University equipped to adapt to rapid change? What should be transformed – and what should be preserved –for it to maintain its leading role and help shape the society of the future? What role will education play in tomorrow’s world, and how will the University’s mission evolve in the face of technological, demographic and global change?

In this discussion, Vilnius University alumni from a range of fields – including academia, business, culture and public life – will share their insights and experiences, inviting participants to look at the future from diverse perspectives and to consider together what kind of university we want Vilnius University to be as it approaches its 450th anniversary.

The discussion will be held in Lithuanian with simultaneous interpretation into English. Please bring your own headphones if you wish to listen to the interpretation.
